Every Bollywood except the ‘artsy’ type has a dance sequence. And then there are those movies which are based on dance. Like Aaja Nachle and Dil To Pagal Hai, both of which star the dancing queen Madhuri Dixit.

Dil To Pagal Hai

In Dil To Pagal, Shah Rukh Khan and Karishma Kapoor are part of  a dance troupe and best friends with Karishma in love with him. Then she  hurts herself  and the search for  a dancer begins and that’s when Madhuri Dixit steps in and love blossoms between her and SRK.  The dance moves are choreographed by Shiamak Davar and won many awards.

Aaja Nachle

Aaja Nachle was a come back film of sorts for Madhuri Dixit. It’s about a woman who returns to India to revive  a dance school. The movie also starred the younger stars Konkana Sen Sharma and Kunal Kapoor.  Vaibhavi Merchant was the choreographer and is also the lady who handled Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2 and Sonam Kapoor in Delhi 6.

Ek, Do, Teen

Dance and Madhuri Dixit go hand in hand. It was her dance number Ek Do Teen in Tezaab, that propelled her out of oblivion.

She took it up a notch with Dhak, Dhak from Beta with Anil Kapoor.

Khalnayak’s Choli Ke Peeche raked up controversy.

Humko Aaj Kal Hai from Sailaab.

In Chane Ke Khet Mein from Anjaam.

In Raja she teamed up with Sanjay Kapoor for Ankhiyan Milao.

With Karishma Kapoor in Dil To Pagal Hai which highlighted her passion for dance.

In Devdas she danced with Aishwarya Rai in Dola Re.

Her comeback movie was Aaja Nachle that revolved around dance and she showed she’s still got the moves with Dance with Me.

Have Feet Will Dance

Shiamak Davar gave “choreographer” a makeover. He fused Indian and Western moves breathing life to the form Indo Jazz.

He designed the moves for movies like Dil To Pagal Hai, Dhoom 2, Bunty Aur Babli and Taare Zameen Par.

Walked away with the National Film Award for Best Choreography for Dil To Pagal Hai.
