Show me the money honey!

November 19, 2009

“Paisa Paisa” from De Dana Dan has become a rage. Not just for its catchy lyrics and music, but because of the video. Watch it here:

What’s special about the video is its very neat choreography. If you would have noticed, the movements are very controlled, yet relaxed. Another good one from choreographer Ganesh Acharya.

Akshay Kumar has established himself as a dancer, and off late, Katrina Kaif has been proving her mettle in this field too. They share a great chemistry on screen, and it shows in the video. Whether the movie does well or not is a different question.

Fab couple, ok-ok choreography

kat ranbir

Everyone agrees on one thing: Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif look absolutely adorable together. The movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani may or may not be great, but the couple is already a huge hit amongst all their respective fans.

The songs are doing well too, going by the audience’s response. “Tera hone laga hoon” is emerging as the clear winner, and “Main tera dhadkan teri” is on the second place. Check out the video here:

The choreography is not mindblowingly different. Ahmed Khan has a lot of good work behind him to boast off. This is definitely not his best.

But the fact that Katrina and Ranbir look so sensational and that they both have done a great job at shaking what they have, makes the video so much more watchable.

Hail Neil

October 23, 2009

Just when Neil Nitin Mukesh was written off by critics as a good actor but bad dancer he comes back to prove them wrong, and how! After watching him in “Sainya Ve” they are all literally eating their words.

So what’s special about this song from Jail, featuring Neil and Mugdha Godse? For one, the choreography is refreshing. So relaxed, so normal, and still so enjoyable. No doubt the song itself is phenomenal.

neil

And the surprise package is Neil, who looks so comfortable, and so chilled out, like he’s enjoying every moment of the dancing. Handsome he is, no doubt, but look at him dance in this song and you’ll fall in love in love with him! Mugdha on the other hand looks like she had no choice but to be there, and would much rather go home and watch Fashion.

Poetry in motion

It’s Blue Blue everywhere… trailers on television, news on the internet and songs on FM stations. Blue has created quite a stir. Take this song for example “Aaj Dil Gustakh Hai”. Watch it here:

Everything about the song is delightful. The location of course is gorgeous. Lara Dutta is looking like a million bucks. Sanjay Dutt looks a little old, but stylish nevertheless.

Check out Lara and Sanjay running around getting naughty on the beach. Look at their underwater antics with the dolphins. I loved the colourful kite as well. And what do you have to say about the red sari with the red bikini in the gorgeous blue water?

Mind blowing choreography by Farah Khan. Very well conceptualized and executed.  Truly unique and refreshing. For a change we didn’t get to see 100 dancers in the background!

Superhit!

If you liked the title track of Wake Up Sid, you should hear it’s remix version too. Better still watch it here:

What a plethora of colors! A treat for the eyes, and of course the ears.

ranbir

Did you notice the number of dance forms the choreographer has experimented with? Everything’s there, from disco to contemporary, hip hop to typical Bollywood kinda stuff. Yet at no point does it look like a mish-mash. Perfectly executed by Ranbir Kapoor. Whatever the fate of his film Wake Up Sid might be, this song is a chartbuster!

So NOT happening!!

After the entire hullabaloo about Preity Zinta performing an item number in Main Aur Mrs Khanna, I thought it would be worth a dekko. But after watching the video I realized how wrong I was. See for yourself:

There are so many reasons why the video is so pathetic. For starters, the song itself is bad. Preity in her heydays looked pretty, no doubt about that. But face it girl, you’re old now! And definitely too old to be dancing in an item number.

Did the Director think he could recreate the magic of “Kajra re”? Evidently that was the idea…Preity’s outfit and jewellery are very reminiscent of the superhit number featuring Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. What I don’t understand is why did he try to pull it off? Couldn’t the choreographer come up with a fresh concept huh?

But did you notice the dance off between Kareena Kapoor and Preity? The former looked stunning in that sexy sari, didn’t she? Kareena should have taken Preity’s place… alas, what’s done is done!

Bebo bebo bebo…

September 22, 2009

Bebo? Kareena Kapoor? No no not her! But she must definitely be feeling rather special right now…considering that she has had two songs using her nick. One was “Bebo main Bebo”, from Kambakht Ishq, filmed on her and Akshay Kumar. The other one doesn’t even feature her at all. Check it out:

As you saw, there’s Lara Dutta and Ritesh Deshmukh in the video from Do Knot Disturb. It looks fresh and clean. Add to it the fact that Lara’s looking smoking hot in those tiny skirts and halter; Ritesh’s shades and leather jacket are really hip. The choreography is pretty decent. Is it Remo?

lara ritesh

And since the song is such a hit, apparently it’s remix version is being brought out too. This one will feature all the 4 central characters: Govinda, Sushmita, Lara and Ritesh. If this rumour is true, then I’m really looking forward to it. Aren’t you?

Hate it hate it hate it!

What’s the worst thing about this video? An aged Salman Khan crooning Love me love me love me, or a fat Ayesha Takia dancing in dreadful clothes or the boring set? Or perhaps the choreography?
prabhu_deva_Sad

This song has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva, who was once called “India’s Michael Jackson”. If Michael were alive today and had seen this song, he would definitely have killed himself!

He has not just choreographed the song, but is also the Director of the film the song is from: Wanted.

I for one don’t mind the song. It has decent beats, and the tune isn’t too bad. There is so much that could have been done with the video. But instead it looks jaded; it would have been a big hit in the year 2000, but not in this age for sure.

Move your body!

September 11, 2009

Have you seen the video of “Chiggy Wiggy”? Check it out here:

Kylie Minogue has always been known to be a great booty-shaker, and it comes as no surprise that she’s given it her best in this song as well. Her strappy little dress and high heels look so hot!

The song is catchy for sure, what with Kylie crooning the English lyrics and a little bhangra being added to give it that quintessential Indian feeling. Joining Kylie on stage is Akshay Kumar, and he gives her a lot of competition for sure!

blue1

In case you didn’t know, this song is from the film Blue, starring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif. Except Katrina you can see the rest of the gang in the Chiggy Wiggy video.

Now quickly tell me what you thought of the video and then go chiggy wiggy yourself!

Dil bole wah wah!

September 7, 2009

Saying that Shahid Kapoor is a brilliant dancer is like saying Ashmit Patel can’t act, or like saying Katrina Kaif is very pretty; stating the obvious. So what happens when Shahid teams up with the girl-next-door Rani Mukherjee in Dil Bole Hadippa for a dance sequence?

Watch the remix version of “dil bole hadippa” to find out:

The song has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant. She has been behind a lot of hit dance numbers recently.

You can watch the making of this video here:

In this song you can see the regular Bollywood thumkas and jhatkas, interspersed with bhangra steps, and there is an unmistakable touch of hip-hop and krumping styles as well. Hats off to this very entertaining fusion!
